Just a collection of cool stuff I've found on the internet, and things people have found before me.
The very music currently embedded on this page... You might know about it already, but I'll put it here just in case. I prefer calling it "Like the Wind", it's a new-wave song, but no one knows who made it, it's a shame because it's a great song. It was recorded on German radio in the 80's and the search for where it comes from has been ongoing since 2007.
My theory is it's a recording of some sort of unknown garage band that somehow got into the radio station's tracklist.
By the way, here's an awesome video talking about it, the editing is really good.
The whole thing reeks of the 90's, in a good way. "Information Center" is a banger.
Seemingly obscure simple online 3D driving game, you can drive down scenic british-looking country roads for as long as you like, change seasons or even just drive on the moon, the only limit is how bored you might end up getting.
Found this old site while just typing random domains, don't think it's been updated in over a decade, copyright info says 1998-2014. It's for some Finnish metal or rock band called Mary, not sure since all their videos are private, all I know is it looks edgy and 2000's as all hell, you can go to "ääni" to see their album covers and lyrics.
I tried searching for any recording of their music, but every link is either private or dead, their last.fm page seems to be full of Japanese music, for some reason? Youtube channel is completely empty, too, except for the bio, which does give a bit more info about what they made. Their Myspace page has 3 songs and they won't play for me. It seems like pretty much all of their music has either been lost to time or been deliberately hidden.
Update: Found a very low quality 16-year old recording of one of their performances uploaded by another person here. It's certainly A recording of their music, not optimal, but it's all I've found.
2nd update: Had no idea why I didn't think of looking at their facebook, but it's been posting since 2018, there's some actual footage of rehearsals and stuff on there! If anything, it seems the band broke up around '18, maybe? The last and latest post (To my knowledge) is just about a show being cancelled, ran it thru a translator and it says it's not because of band complications... Maybe the band broke up later, maybe they just never played again? Fun to think about. Seems like it might've been the end for a group that's been together for ~20 years, I hope they're still friends, at least.
(fair warning, there's some kinda weird NSFW art next to the logo)
Wow!
This website is probably old and abandoned, but it is cool as hell. your3dsource.com is all about shitty old CGI and art, because it comes right from the end of the era of bad 3D graphics. It's cool to explore, lots of guides and information, but I especially like the GIFs section.
Sadly, all the Flash stuff is long gone, but the GIFs remain.
Below is a link to all the sweet 3D FX!!
This here is the official website of Wakaliwood, Uganda's best film studio. I gotta say their movies and their website kicks ass! Ugandan cinema is truly action packed, I must say.
If you haven't already, watch Who Killed Captain Alex.
Stumbled upon this Youtube channel, it's pretty interesting.
So basically, a videographer dude named Nelson Sullivan from New York started videotaping his life, starting in 1983 until he unfortunately died of a heart attack in 1989. To my knowledge, this guy was the first example of a vlogger, especially in his later work.
It's almost like a time machine, feel free to check it out for yourself.
Here's his most viewed video, where he stops at McDonald's during a road trip in 1989.
. Got these from this cool site
